Try these first — they cost nothing
- Clean the mesh. Wax and dust on the speaker mesh are the most common cause of low or muffled sound. Use a dry, soft brush. Don't use water, sharp objects or anything that pushes dirt inward.
- Check the audio balance. On iPhone, Settings › Accessibility › Audio & Visual › Balance should be in the centre.
- Reset them. Put both buds in the case, close the lid for 30 seconds, then open it. Forget the AirPods in Bluetooth settings, then hold the button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the light flashes amber and then white. Pair them again. (AirPods 4 and AirPods Max reset differently; Apple's support page has the steps for each model.)
- Try another cable and adapter if the case won't charge, and check the case port for lint.

What a repair can and can't do
AirPods are sealed and glued, so they are not built to be opened. That makes some repairs possible and others not worth it. After a free diagnosis we tell you straight which it is: a clean, a repair, or — when a bud is beyond saving — that it isn't worth repairing. The part grade is named on your quote before any work starts, and nothing is done until you say yes.
If the charging case has a board-level fault, such as corrosion after liquid, the work is done at Alfa-Fix Central, our board-level lab at Chinnakada.

Why is only one of my AirPods working?
Usually it is wax or dust on the speaker mesh, an audio balance setting, or a worn battery in that bud. Try cleaning the mesh and resetting the AirPods first. If that doesn't fix it, bring them in for a free diagnosis and we'll tell you whether a clean or a repair will fix it.
Can you replace an AirPods battery?
It depends on the model and the condition of the bud, because AirPods are sealed and glued. After a free diagnosis we tell you honestly whether battery work is possible or whether another option is better value, and the price is confirmed before any work starts.
My AirPods case won't charge. Can you fix it?
Often, yes. Check the cable, the adapter and the port for lint first. If the case still won't charge, it is usually the charging port, the case battery or the charging circuit, which we can diagnose for free.
My AirPods got wet. What should I do?
Dry the outside with a soft cloth and let them dry fully before putting them back in the case or charging them. Rice doesn't draw moisture out of electronics, so don't rely on it. If the sound is muffled or they won't charge afterwards, bring them in for a free diagnosis.
Is there a warranty on AirPods repairs?
Yes. AirPods and headphone repairs carry a 3-month warranty on the part fitted and our workmanship. Liquid-damaged devices, and devices opened before by someone else, are repaired on a best-efforts basis without warranty (Repair Terms, clause 12).
